Andrew

I've got a brave ear.

About Me

I'm twenty eight, male, single, caucasian, internationally backgrounded, and live on Boston's North Shore. I've been a helpless record geek since about the age of thirteen. I've got too many records and too many books and see too many movies and am too emotionally invested in all of them. I enjoy cats, rainy days and uh, is this supposed to read like a personal ad, or not?

Favorite Artists

I've been a helpless record geek since about the age of thirteen. I've got too many records and too many books and see too many movies and am too emotionally invested in all of them. As far as music goes, I dig a wide variety of sounds across the American and European pop spectrum. I grew up on classic rock, American hardcore, sixties freakout psych and cannonical indie, but dig everything from ambient to country to techno sounds and a whole lot in beween these days. I like to think that I've got adventurous ears, but there's so much out there to listen to that it's both overwhelming and exciting. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Favorite Albums

Spacemen 3's "The Perfect Prescription" and "Playing with Fire; Tom Waits' "Bone Machine" and "Rain Dogs"; Jane's Addictions' "Ritual de lo Habitual; Kraftwerk's "Computer World"; Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works Vol. 1"; DJ Shadow's "Entroducing..."; Iron and Wine's "The Creek Drank the Cradle"; Massive Attack's "Mezzanine" and "Blue Lines"; Stars of the Lid "The Tired Sounds of the Stars of the Lid"; the Vaselines "The Way of the Vaselines"; Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted"; Pink Floyd's "Piper at the Gates of Dawn"; X's "Los Angeles"; Mission of Burma's "Vs."; Modest Mouse's "The Lonely Crowded West"; Mirah's "Advisory Committee"; Wire's "Pink Flag"; Johnny Cash's "Live at Folsom Prison"; Slint's "Spiderland"; Mudhoney's "Superfuzz Bigmuff plus Early Singles"; The Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"; Boards of Canada's "Geogaddi"; Blackalicous's "NIA"; Sam Cooke's "Portrait of a Legend"; Low's "Long Division"; Codeine's "Frigid Stars" Galaxie 500's "The Portable Galaxie 500"; The DFA's "DFA Compilation #2"; The Monorchid's "Let them Eat the Monrochid"; Ellen Alien and Apparat's "Orchestra of Bubbles"; Orbital's "Oribital II"; Joy Divison's "Permanent" (I like the re- masters); Trojan Records' recent series of compilations; Slowdive's "Soulvaki"; The Orb's "Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld" and many more. You get the picture.

Recent Concerts

I don't go to too many concerts. But I've got Iron and Wine and maybe the Clientele coming up, and saw the Slint reunion and Juan MacLean in the last year. Good stuff.

A good sign. if it makes you feel better too, there were/are 3 bands/artists in it that I have never heard of! thanksthanks. I enjioyed it a alot, and it's good to know there's IMP'ers out there like you making the effort. keep it up. MxBx

Got thhe Dec. mix and listened to half of it last night. Sounds good! No worries about the lateness I didn't send my Dec mix til Jan. 7. Already sent my Jan one though in an effort to get back to being more prompt with these. Happy New Year!
