Screaming! Squeeling! Squirting Blood!

About Me

I'm a maker from Arkansas who likes tiny things and collections. Tapes are sort of tiny, so here I am. I'd like to hear music I wouldn't normally hear. I used to work at a college radio station, if that gives any clue to what I'm likely familiar with.

Favorite Songs

Favorite Artists

Troubadours, dance music, positive hip-hop, wacky (Cody Chestnut), hard (Xiu Xiu), sweet (Feist), the prefixes folk- and indie- (a very wide umbrella), world music (Konono no. 1), anything having to do with David Byrne/Talking Heads, but what I really seek are female musicians. I need help.

Favorite Albums

Recent Concerts

I'll the concerts I've been to in the past few years have been in my living room: Lemuria, Potboiler, Kickball, Timber, Fishboy, Redbear., Super Famicom, 607, Conduit Family, Gangster Football (Chris Byrne), Tippy Canoe, Blair Harris, Real Live Tigers, Jon Crocker, BJ Ellis, Josh Abbott, Justin Carr, Woolly Mammoth, David's Pegasus, Tel Aviv, Fire Don't Care, Dave Dean, Steady Bang, Adam Faucett, Chris Denny, Early Morning Bourbon Girls, Mt. Eerie, Fake Problems, Saint JH, Hello Shark, Life Under a Tree, Toby Foster, Nice and Friendly, Memphis Pencils, Kicker Knot (Brian Wolf), Stacy Mackey, Erin Brothers (E.Bro), Prohibition Heartthrob, Dan Dean and Family, World History, Luminous Craft, Eryn Brothers, New Science Projects, Seth Hundtskup, My Bicycle Emergency, Shout Lulu, Finn Riggins

Mixtapes

Heart : ( Heart

This one is totally random, thought it contains a lot of diy stuff (about 1/3).

Greetings from the A-State

Not so much Arkansan musicians ('cept for Sam King and Ho-Hum), but a little "somewhere out there" for the sentimental-minded. We can call each other and start the tape at the same time, and listen as though we were in the same room. Don't worry, I don't have your number.

Maybe winter doesn't have to end.

Evidence of cold, previews of new growth, this mix is mostly quiet but interspersed with the cold growing pains of Spring.

Synesthesia

This tape was inspired by an exercise I did with a poetry workshop where we listened to music and then talked about how it tasted/smelled/felt. It's a learning mixtape.

Be a Venue

In response to uprising and the new year, I've made a mix that shows how we're helping the underdog in the music scene. Venues don't want bands that don't sell drink specials-- we're not trying to sell anything in our living room, and that's where dozens of musicians have discovered that Arkansas is a place you want to drive through.

Ron

No worries, Amy! I'm sure you're a boon to IMP (that's a backwards noob). Besides, as soon as my wife saw the track listing, she said "THAT one's MINE!" and ran away with it. So you have a very happy recipient.
