Mixing it since '86

About Me

I didn't know about this site til a couple of weeks ago. I've actually been making mixtapes since I was a kid, and my first mixtape is from late '85. (by the way, NO ONE gets that one, so don't ask, lol)

By the way, can I send out previously mixed tapes? Over the course of the years, I've made... let's see... 97 actual cassettes of mixed songs. About 10-15 mix Minidiscs (it was, unfortunately, a short period, as minidiscs never caught on, though I think it's the perfect medium between tapes and CD's.) Probably 60 already mixed CD's (both (tapes and CD's) of varying quality.

One thing about me -- I absolutely love to collect *great* mixes of songs... meaning, sometimes there are 10 mixes of a song and I only tend to like one mix out of those... but i love to discover the other 9 all the same.

I also like to discover other music by my favorite bands, but not as much as hearing different mixes.

Favorite Songs

favorite songs... now you have to know that I like everything from the 60s to Today, and nearly everything in between, so the range is quite far- reaching. I'm also not sure if I should just put "hits" that people will know or more obscure stuff, so I'll try and mix it up... argh bad pun.... Here are some, definitely not all, in no particular order:

"Immaculate Heartache" - The Dream Academy "The Politics of Dancing" - The Re-Flex "The Different Story (World of Lust & Crime)" - Peter Schilling "Pressure" - Sunscreem "Don't Change" - INXS "Voices of Babylon" - The Outfield "Live To Tell" - Madonna "Go" - Asia "Heartbreak Beat" - Psychedelic Furs "Spitting Games" - Snow Patrol "America: What Time Is Love?" - The KLF "Sleeping Satellite" - Tasmin Archer "Crazy" - Alanis Morrisette "Penelope" - 4 Wings "Bedshaped" - Keane "Aja" - Steely Dan "Black Betty" - Ram Jam "The Pretender" - Jackson Browne "What's Forever For" - Michael Martin Murphy

Hi Steven. Your December mix was posted from London yesterday (Dec 15th). Might take a while to get to you - the UK Christmas post is appalling! Hope you like the CD. Cheers Martin.

Excellent Mixie! I like your stuff kiddo. You should let the mixes fly, except for the "mini discs", I don't think anyone has the tech to hear such a thing, do they? Maybe duplicate the playlists on a big ol' fat disc. Will wonders never cease.
