About Me

I live north of London in England. By day, I eek out an existence working for 'The Man'. By night, I still end up working because of the flamin' BlackBerry. However, when I ignore it, I like to immerse myself in music. I miss the old school and Uni days of swapping mix tapes. And 'old skool' is probably my musical taste too (which means I am an old git living in the past).

Please send me funky stuff that will get my old toes a-tapping

Favorite Songs

Oh come on! You might as well ask the meaning of life?! Oh - go on then. In true Nick Hornby style, here is my all time top 5. For today. I imagine it will change depending on season, mood, discovering a long lost album, etc, etc....

(1) The Charlatans - The Only One I Know (2) Snow Patrol - Run (3) Man With No Name - Seratonin Sunrise (MVO Mix) (4) Prodigy - Claustrophobic Sting (5) The Smiths - How Soon Is Now?

Favorite Artists

Fairly Eclectic mix of all sorts of nonsense. In no particular order: Underworld, The Smiths, The Aliens, Stone Roses, Soup Dragons, REM, Man With No Name, The Bicycles, Primal Scream, Prodigy, Shaper, Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack, Snow Patrol, White Stripes, The Cure, Gorrilaz, Blur, Oasis, Magnapop, Gus Gus, Bjork, Nirvana, Banco de Gaia, Baby D, Alpha, Husker Du, Orbital, The Orb, Franz Ferdinand, Faithless, Jimi Tenor, Future Sound Of London, to name a few

Favorite Albums

A similarly tough question. But here goes:

(1) Orbital - Brown Album (2) Tricky - Maxinque (3) The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (4) Man With No Name - Earth Moving The Sun (5) St Etienne - Good Humor

Recent Concerts

The Ting Tings were surprisingly good live at Glasto this year. Best concert ever was Underworld at Newcastle Uni in 1996. A tear is in my eye just thinking about it....

Mixtapes

I Love The 90's

The 90's was typified for me by Indie, Brit Pop and Baggy. Trawling through some very obscure and dusty piles of records, as well as some stuff that is played regularly on my iPod today, I present this collection for your delight

I Got It Covered

A random selection of interesting covers from all sorts of artists and all sorts of eras

Tracks Of My Years

Simple idea: a track for every year I have been buying CDs. Perhaps not the best track, but something that defines the years for me

Magic America

No prizes for guessing the theme of this disc. I was inspired by Texas (the place, not the band) and it kinda got out of hand...

Hello Simeon- First off thx so much for the Mix. I am through two listens since receiving it yesterday. It has had many moments. Nostalgia, surprises, and Shocks good and bad. Its a mix for sure and well thought out. Wish we could discuss over a drink. I loved the jewel case and liner notes ( here is where our discussion would revolve around). Any how Cheers and thanks a million. leland

I got your mixtape in the mail and I was very impressed!!! I loved it!!!! I like the fact that you were inspired by Texas! I am also impressed by your musical likings. You should check out Brand New if you like The Smiths and Morrissey!
