Hey David, thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the tunes. Particularly happy due to your favorite tracks being from hometown (Milwaukee) artists, as well as oddball artists...glad my weird tastes aren't lost on everyone! Best wishes for the new year!

Megan

Well, now I've received three. My stock has gone up. Anyway, thank you for the mix! I enjoyed it.

Megan

HI David. I have only received one mix since I signed up for IMP. I believe it was from you - called "I am the Cosmos", Sound right?

David

January mix will be in the mail tomorrow!

James

12/18 - November CD (with bonus December one) went out in today's mail. Happy Festivus! -James

James

David, I've had your November mix ready for some time but I'm having problems burning it. iTunes keeps changing the track order and I've gone through 4 CDs in the process. I'm going to try another fix before I have to redo the label. - James

Sean

David your mix is fantastic. Opening with Leonard Nimoy of all people but it works! Listening to some classic tracks brought back memories. Big thanks!

Danny

Nice one David. Hopefully you'll have got the mix ('Feelings')I sent you a week or two ago. Danny

Danny

Ground control to Major David. Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare and do a side trade with me. Up for it?.......Danny

the_rebellious_jukebox

David ... cheers for the mix package, it landed this week. Looks good for tunes, i loved the added decor on the envelope and i'm glad you're like me and send that little something else so people can go investigate...i'd no idea about canadian comic art. Sid

Gary

Hey David, thanks for the David Byrne postcard. Much appreciated, and glad you liked the mix. Best wishes, Gary

Rachel

Sending out your mix today, sorry for it being a little late. But I had an excuse this time, which is that I caught an ADENOVIRUS. Don't get an adenovirus, it is super super un-fun. Anyway your mix going out today so you should receive it hopefully soon.

Rachel

GUESS WHO is my mixtape assignment for this month?? This is universal justice, since now I am REQUIRED BY LAW to send you a mixtape on time. Just finished your new mix. Will send soon, hope you like it.

Rachel

Hi hi! Yes, you did hold up your end of the deal--in fact, I think you might have even sent me TWO mixes. So you are a star of mixtape-making. Hope you like the one I sent! Let me know what you liked and didn't for future side-trade info, although of course now you know that any side trade with me takes approximately six months so I will not be offended if you never want to do that again.

*Martin

I'm quite sure I don't deserve it - but thank you! Can't wait!

*Martin

Hi David - thanks for the perestroika mix. Like the mix, like the theme. Some great stuff on there! cheers!

the_rebellious_jukebox

Dunno when your side swap mix request came in, but yeah i'm keen...best way is email sittlington AT yahoo DOT co DOT uk or twitter AT sirsidneyp

Rachel

uh oh I have been bad. I am doing a bad job with my life management skills. This mix is going to happen I swear to the god of springtime

Shelly

Actually, I take that back. I got it a few days ago and it looks great. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but will this weekend. Thanks! :)

Shelly

Hey David - No, I don't think I did. When did you send it out? - Shelly

Rachel

I did!! Very much enjoying the CDs, more comments shortly, and have been very very bad about sending mine. Have been working on it for approximately a billion months. Will send soon--moving this week, so after that I will try to get it to you ASAP.

Erika

Hi, Just got your mix - my first from the IMP - and it's bloody grand. I love how eclectic it is; don't worry about me not liking anything on there, it's tip-top! Cheers, Erika

Tedde Rae

Hi David! Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. I'm pretty diverse in my tastes. I'd love to hear local stuff from your locale, wherever that may be ... Thanks in advance; can't wait to listen! T

Jon

Oh boy yes-Stars!

ANDY

Received your mix today.. Thanks for sending 2! I will give feedback once I listen to them......

Rachel

Wait a minute...you're the one who sent me the amazing package, right? I have been meaning to get in touch to thank you for that. Please email me so I can thank you further, and also send you something cool in return.

Rachel

Sure! Email me at rachel.w.kiel@gmail.com and we'll get this party started.

ANDY

I hope your mix didn't get lost in the mail.. Haven't recieved it yet : (

Jon

Ok David~ Looking forward to it~Jonny

Jon

Just hold yr horses lets see if it turns up in a day or two. I'll let you know stay Cool Jonny

ANDY

That's ironic - I was just signing on to send it to you. Very much looking forward to recieving a mix from you..

Jon

What thing was it David? Nothing unexpected has turned up. Stay Cool, but spill more beans. Jonny

ANDY

Let's do a side trade - it would be grand

Randy

Soooo, I had not looked at my profile for a long time and I see that you asked me a question back in August. Yes I do manage a non profit human services agency, actually two related ones. InterServ is the main one, 100+ year old agency serving Northwest Missouri with a variety of programs that include things as diverse as youth Olympic Weightlifting that has produced 2 Olympic athletes and an Olympic coach to Mobile Meals for elderly folks. www.faithfullyserving.org The other sister corporation is Community Missions Corp and we provide housing for chronically homeless men. Sorry it took so long to respond. Hope you liked the August Mix!

Ashley

Hi David, I put your Jan. '12 mix in the mail on 2/2 & it should make its way to you this week. Sorry for the delay. Hope you enjoy the mix, Ashley

*Martin

I knew I was going to enjoy 'across 110th street' as soon as I opened the package. And it's full of old vinyl with some wonderful hiss and pop moments - thanks so much for taking the time to rip the vinyl for me. My favourite track is definitely the Etta James one - classic! I haven't listened to the other CD yet, but if it's up to the standards of the first one I know I won't be disappointed, thanks man!

Megan

Hi David, Just wanted to let you know that I'm sending out your December mix today. Sorry that it's a bit late!

*Martin

your discs went in the post today David (December 1st) hope you like 'em!

*Martin

Hi David - I've sent you my address via email. You want it funky? You came to the right place!

*Martin

Hey Spaceman! I saw your comment on Walter's page about how his mix was so refreshing because it wasn't all just new indie bands and eating disordered singer/songwriter/acoustic-guitar players. I could not agree more! I don't mean to sound unappreciative but a lot of mixes I've been getting lately have really lacked imagination. Anytime you're up for a side-trade let me know!

Walter

Hi David, very pleased to hear you enjoyed the mix I sent your way. You can grab my e-mail address from my profile. Looking forward to side-trading with you. Cheers, Walter.

Leisa

I most certainly did and I thank you kind sir. :)

Walter

Hi David, your Oct mix left Sydney today (11th Oct).

Arianna

It's chill! I don't know when that comment was posted - sorry if this is a super late response. Uhm, do you happpen to recall if you sent it to my New York or Oregon address? Bleh - I just moved.

Steven

I hope you received it, I definitely sent it! If you can't find it let me know and I'll send it again x

Trish

Hi David Im your March DJ and your mix is flying it way to you.Reviews are welcome! Trish also check out my blog www.djtrishm.blogspot.com

Analuz

haha. i would say thanks, but i had nothing to do with the name. I guess I'll pass the msg on to the parents... anywho... I will definitely keep you in mind in case i find some MIND ALTERING patterns or stationary. who knows? you could change the life of some other mixer :) happy december, and... snowy days!

Analuz

David! I got your mix last Friday. Canadian mail didn't fail this time... Loved the packaging... oh, so colorful (YES!). I thought I'd let you know your CD was the first IMPmix I've ever received, as I've recently enrolled in the project. Thanks for this little piece of musical bliss. un beso, Analuz...

Valentina

Got it! And, as usual it's fabulous. Lovin' it.

Valentina

David I don't think I did. I'm sure I would remember something from you. By the way, I've been reading your blog entrys. I love that one about transfering vinyl to digital. Don't we all have a mess of thrift store impulse vinyl?

Jessica

Yes, David, I did and I'm really enjoying it! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything on your wall yet- I've been a busy, but I did get it- THANK YOU!!

John

Ahoy there. Hope you received the June mix all right and that it went down smoove?

John

Hi monsieur. I'm your June mixtaper and I'm sending it out today (July 2). Sorry it's late.

Laurin

Want to send me your email address? So then I can snag your actual address? (unless you want to post it on my wall--but I doubt that.)

Laurin

Hey a few months back (I never check my comments) you wrote: If you're the Laurin that sent me "Songs That Begin with an "a" mix for July; it arrived. Unfortunately some postie sat on it or something as it was snapped in two inside the mailing envelope!!!! Imagine the letdown. All excited about it and.....bummer. Any chance you could send another one? Want me to send ya another one?

Ron

Hey David! *Finally* sent out two mixes to you. Made a mistake on the track listing for the Bizarre Mix. Two additional tracks were added that aren't on the track listing. #11 is Negativland - Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. #12 is Avalances - Frontier Psychiatry. Enjoy!

Natalie

Hi David - yes if it's called Norrie Paramor I have received your mix! I like the printed paper envelope, it's lovely. At the moment I'm liking the first track, Metric and Of montreal. cheers Nat

Adrian

I'm not bad, David, I hope you're well. I understand what it must feel like to listen to every album again. In a similar way, when I first ripped all my CDs it allowed me to immerse myself in each one, reading the Wikipedia page for it and studying the art. It sounds like you're having a real musical adventure. Inspiring some mixes, no?

Trish

Dear David Glad you liked the 3 volume dose of tunes.Heck this may turn out to be a regular thing.I'll broad your musical horizons and your kids too!mua hahahaa! Groove on Trish

Ron

I got the Going Rogue mix but keep pissing myself off because I forget to grab it as I'm running out the door. Looks like it has that Hope-y Change-y feel to it. Also, I'm trying to write better IMP comments by using notes written on my hand. Just hope the ink doesn't run......

Trish

Hi David Just thought Id drop a quick note to thank you for your cool mix.It inspired me to bring out some 70s and 80s tunes to put in the itunes and make my latest creation(see you mention on my page)Trish P.S A little surprise coming you way from your side trade slut eh hem did I just say that???

Adrian

Hi David, just saw your blog post about ripping your vinyl and thought I'd drop a line to say hi. I don't think I could bring myself to converting my vinyl: it's the last stand. Once I'd uploaded the vinyl, I might as well just upload MYSELF. Anyways, how are things?

Laura

You are delightful. I got my lovely package yesterday and have been happily listening to it. Way to go on the beautiful recycled envelope and the great packaging. Ace mix, thanks!

Trista

YAY!

Trista

Haha! That song is only for enjoying in private, for serious. Just got your mix and excitedly threw it on the player, listening to it now as I type. Enjoying it muchly, very well put-together. Also, I'm a sucker for kitsch. So, when do I get another one of these mix thingies from you? :)

Trista

I had a lot of mixes to do last month and I don't know if my mix is really that well put together, I'll make sure to send you one I actually put a little elbow grease into!

Steve

Got the mix today Chesty. Looks very tasty. Cheers. Steve

Trista

Sent you a mix the other day! Hope you get it soon. *scratches head* Let's do more side-trading!

Trish

Hi David Thank you for the mix.I got it today.Ill give it a listening while doing domestic chores tonight and Ill submit a review soon! Trish

Steve

No worries Spaceman Dave. I've admired your selection in the past and I know it'll be worth the wait.

Laura

I sent off your side trade mix this morning!

Ron

PS - Love the quote under 'About Me'....that's killer

Ron

A side trade would be awesome! Any existing mix of mine you want? Currently working on around the 18th revision/update/upgrade of the 2nd techno mix.....

Laura

I would love to partake in a side trade. I have a mix in mind already. And that music video is intense.

Trista

Hey fella! Thanks so much for reading and enjoying my blog! And also, thanks for writing about your own musical years! It is true that music often sounds different in basements. :) I'm definitely up for the side-trade. E-mail me with your address: tristasaurus@gmail.com or just comment back with yours. Mine's: 505 Williams Ave N Renton, WA 98057 USA Again, thanks for the name-drop and reassurance that I probably should keep writing and stop procrastinating. And about that French, I took Spanish.. but Senor Gertlar was the type that would walk into class fifteen minutes late, tell us all he was hungover and he was going to take a nap, and to go ahead and use the school's cable to watch BET. I really only know how to ask where the bathroom is in Spanish. :)

Trish

Hi David Trish Mullins 1825 Southeast Dr Point Pleasant NJ 08742 USA

Angela

Side trade - absolutely - what's your pleasure? I'll take anything really, really happy or really, really depressing. Happy new year!

Trish

Ground Control to David Be advised a Jersey Girl wants to know if you want to do a side trade over. Colonel Steve Austin (ret)mission control P.S Warning over planets are monitoring your tranmissions. The Mysterons and Klingons got their ears on. Col Steve Austin/cc:DJ Trish

Alan

Hey David... September mix is going out a little late (like, today). To make up for it, I threw August in there, too. Hope you like them!

Evangeline

Got the mix a while ago and keep meaning to tell you it's great! This is my first mix from IMP and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks!

Evangeline

Haha, something like that. They're funky: http://garfunkelandoates.com/

Rebecca

Got it! Thanks a lot, I love it!

Cornelius

It's my pleasure ... mwa ha ha ha ha!

Rebecca

Nope, hasn't arrived yet. I have been very slack in going to the post office- I shall post yours this week I promise!

Will

Got your mix, Chesty6, and I am grooving accordingly. :)

Cornelius

Ugh! I'm a lame ass. I'm mailing your sh!t tommorrow man, I promise! Don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful.

Cornelius

Yeah yeah, like Pat Boone "In a metal mood: No More Mister Nice Guy". Funny stuff. When Ozzy had his show on MTV they used the P.B. version of "Crazy Train".

Cornelius

Get the F!ck outta here! When the magic I.M.P. computerized "8- ball" drew up my assignment this month, guess what? Your name came up! I haven't traded with you inna while Capt. Fantastic, so I'm gonna RAIN mix discs down upon your head brotha!

Adrian

I don't, but nor do I think they look awful. I guess my dad used to say exactly the same thing about the ties I inherited from him.

Adrian

Well done for bashing the seventies at the time. Most of the people I ever hear talking about the seventies loved them when they were there - loved kipper ties, loved tank tops, loved instant coffee, loved it all - and only realised how awful it all was much later. The nineties can never go out of fashion in the same way, can they. Can they?

Rebecca

Oops. I'm on it.

Adrian

I have now looked up Shields and Yarnelle on Youtube. I can imagine it would have been grating if it was on prime-time TV every week; but as selected clips from Youtube, taken at my own leisure, they seem quite tolerable. As for the L.P. crowd, I think that was expected of pop music in the 1970s: weird novelty singles had a surprisingly high success rate back then, and if you went along to a recording of TOTP you'd be silly if you didn't go prepared. The question is, are we now worse-off for not having singles like these?

Adrian

Woah, Clarification! Although I don't want to dissuade you from becoming a Serendipity Singers obsessive, I was referring to a YouTube clip of Captain and Tennille. What I like best about the old Top of the Pops appearances, like the Lt Pigeon one, is watching the poor kids in the audience trying their best to look like they're enjoying it. This is quite a rich thread of amusement for me, and includes the Manic Street Preachers (James wearing IRA-esque balaclava) playing to a crowd of mostly Take That-obsessed teenagers.

Adrian

I had to look that one up on YouTube initially, but as it began it dawned on me what it was. Even more spectacular is the video I watched - yes, I watched all of it - and the "c'mon, join in" face she pulls as she sings/mimes is quite remarkable. 'Mouldy Old Dough' by Lieutenant Pigeon is quite a wonder, have you ever encountered that?

Jennifer

Yes sir, we need a side trade! Let's do this thang!

Jennifer

Yes sir, we need a side trade! Let's do this thang!

Adrian

When I first heard 'Beans In My Ears' I thought it was an amusing modern-day pastiche - when I looked it up a few weeks back I was surprised how old it was.

Rebecca

Hell yeah!

Adrian

Hi David. Thanks very much for your highly-enjoyable two mixes. I love them both and they have accompanied me in the car a lot lately, including a disastrous trip into London last week to visit Ikea. Extra points for having Twiggy on the cover of one of them. Sorry for not replying sooner, but I have just moved house and I find that it takes a while to 'digest' a new mix anyway. P.S. I have now resolved never to put beans in my ears.

James

Glad you like the mix. I'm not sure if I was brave to include "hits" or just running out of ideas. My current mix is of songs with women's names and it took me forever to nail it down to just 39 songs. Feast or famine I guess.

Meatbreak

oh shit yeah! I forgot I sent you over 100 songs. Happy to hear that you're getting into it all. It's quite a trip, even if I say so myself.

James

2/6: I sent your January mix on Wednesday. I probably should have thought of an easier theme--it took forever to find the songs to meet the motif of "Compounds." I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, James

Meatbreak

And while I'm here - yesterday I went a bit IMP fan-boy and made an IMP group on last.fm. Don't know if you use it at all, but I really like it - I've gotten into it over the last 6 months so much so that I combined my love for IMP & L.FM and made this: http://www.last.fm/group/International+Mixtape+Project. Hopefully we can get soem good use out of it, there's a lot of potential in it I think (but then I would, I made it!!) MxBx

Meatbreak

Hey Chesty! yeah, I was pretty pleased when I'd drawn you as a recipient coz I know you're mind is pretty wide open....so i was a bit disappointd that I drew you in December, which is my most disingenious month for mixing. No peeking at my page, because it's all there. i thought I was going to send it out to you about 3 weeks ago but then something else came up so I did that first then finally got it out to you. the ambiguity of that sentence will be resolved in about 7 days when it arrives with you. So yeah - sorry for the lame concept, but I make no apologies for the actual tracks. Awesome, every single one. MxBx

Ashley

No, haven't been a member long (since this summer, actually). Hence, I only just saw your comment. But again, great mix, thanks! Still heavily in the playlist. Loving IMP, although I tend to procrastinate a ton so I haven't been as creative as I could be.

Becky

Hey David! I just wanted to let you know that I got your mixes and I am loving them! Awesome, awesome stuff on here, thanks so much! =] Yours went in the mail this Friday- so sorry about the delay, time got away from me. Anyway, I hope you like them! Thanks again!

Rob

Weird question but could you mail me with the track list for the mix I did for you? I didn't keep the playlist and should have - I was telling a friend about it and she wants a copy. Email robsimmons0 at google's fine email service.

Kim

Glad it arrived and glad your enjoying it :)

Bob

Hey David Merry Fucking Christmas!! If you go for that sort of thing. http://www.sendspace.com/file/n3x0kn

Rob

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Double Bass is on the first Gorillaz album, and you can't go wrong with The Specials, can you?

corina

I'm diggin' the Nov. mix, thanks a bunch! Cheers! Corina

Kim

Hey - just to let you know your November mix is finally in the post, hope it arrives with you soon. Kim

Becky

I'm sorry, I don't know what happened, but I never got your email. Would it be possible to re-send, or to comment with your email so I could send you my address that way? Sorry, I checked every folder it could have gone into, and I couldn't find anything.

Lindsay

Woot! Glad you like them. It's dirty work but somebody's got to do it...

Rob

Hey, just to let you know your mix is in the post. I sent it priority for an extra â¬1, although knowing the french postal service, that probably means that they'll only leave it in a back office for one week instead of the customary three...

Lindsay

Ah, that's good then. I thought I was going to have to beat down some crackheads to get it. Phew!

Becky

Haha, sometimes I forget what my profile picture is. I am, as you said, the devil horn signer. =] We didn't know when the photo booth was actually taking pictures, which may explain the weirdness a little. Good times, though, good times.

Lindsay

Your sidetrade is en route - do you think mine has arrived yet? My postman put a note through my door saying he delivered a package for me to a neighbour by accident, but I live in a ghetto and said "neighbour" won't answer the door and has probably sold it to sell crack...although it could be some other package and not a mixtape from you at all...just wondered if you might be able to shed some light on the subject...wrong delivery-gate occured last Thursday. Maybe too soon right?

Cornelius

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Also... what's the deal with Sam Waterson AND Karen Black both being cross eyed and having mutltiple close-ups? Oh to be back in the Hollywood of the '70's. Aaahhh the seventies.

Cornelius

Hey Spaceman! I just watched 'Capricorn One' and I don't know about you, but I wouldn't get outta my capsule just cause some white guy with a head set says "Follow me. Now!"

Becky

Hey! Sorry I'm so late on this, but if you'd still like to trade, I'm down. Your mixes look fantastic, and I could never turn down a trade from someone with great taste in music. =) If you want to exchange details, my email address is nothingnewsincerocknroll[at]yahoo[dot]com. Thanks!!

Cornelius

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!

Lindsay

Anything to disturb the postie (that's Scottish for mailman, fyi.) Send me your address, and I'll send you some goodies! x

Bob

The first was a trick unfortunately so here's the treat: http://www.sendspace.com/file/gs7j61

Rob

Hey just to let you know your mix will be a bit late due to some personal stuff going on. I haven't forgotten it though, and will get it out to you as soon as I can!

Bob

Trick or Treat David! http://www.zshare.net/download/19052227c70e5127/

Ashley

Loved the mix(es). Thank you!

Tanya

How you doin' these days??? :)

Cornelius

"I'm goin' in and I'm goin' in FuLL Throttle boys. That otta keep those fighters off our backs!"

RayGun

Sure as shootin'--I'm always good for a swap! Eyeballin' something special on my list or were you hopin' for something freshly scrambled? Give me a yodel at mr.sharpadero@gmail.com.

Cornelius

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond to you my space friend. I would love to send you some music. Please remind me your earth address (intruderalert@hotmail.com)

Bob

Right back at you!

Krista

I was convinced you had already started drinking when leaving the previous comment. I will ignore the new one and keep the original idea. It makes you seem more....approachable :)

Krista

Close, a half pint and a Malibu & pineapple...I'm a very serious drinker :)

Jenny

i only know a few ween songs and they played for almost 3 hours. 3 freaking hours. and the crowd was kinda douchey...

Cornelius

Hey there bubba. Sorry it took me so long to respond to yer post. In answer to your query, I'd love to side-trade with you again. Your mixes are really well thought out and I very much enjoy them. In answer to your other question, for a living right now I work as a fine dining waiter in an Italian Ristorante four nights a week, and as an office manager 2 full days a week in an acupuncture office. How about you Chesty6?

Bob

Yeah I'm down for a side trade. See anything you like? My email address is over on my profile. Drop me a line and we'll exchange niceties.

Cornelius

Hail Ming! I just saw your cover to 'City boy aincha!' come up on the I.M.P. homepage and it made me laugh. That's a great mix! How'z it going? (in spaaaace)

Sara

I did get your mix, thanks so much! It was one of the better ones I have received lately, too. Keep up the good work!

Anna

Dave! I love the 'Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out' mix you sent me. The songs flow together so well, and most of it was completely new to me. Yours will be coming soon!

Ian

Glad to hear it got there! And especially glad you like the Elbow track, I wondered if it wasn't a bit too abrasive to lead off.

ANDY

Sure! -- a side trade would be awesome -- send me your e- mail, so I can give you my address; and you can give me yours.

Emma

Definitely-I'm away from IMP right now-You'll have to email me(emmab4@shaw.ca). Are you still in Norwood?

Bradley

I'm really glad you like it! I was looking at some of these mixs you have up here and I am realy impressed. Message me if you are up for a disc exchange and i'll fire something your way.

Ian

As well you should! I'll be slipping your mix into the mail today, sir.

Ian

More like the whole thing has just taken so long I completely forgot about it... sorry, dude. That lack of an official deadline made a difference, I think. I will get you one soon! (but you might want to email me your address again)

Selden

well fuckle my balls. i sent it, but it got returned on account of my dreadful cursive with which i wrote your address. so i sent it again. but that now appears to have been a futile gesture. blargh. i will try once more (at least now i can include some newly acquired stuff...) And colin was awesome. if you like the decemberists or acoustic music at all, perhaps you just have a soft spot for the historically and histrionically inclined, the ridiculous and the inherently adorable, you should go.

Bradley

Hi there David, I sent off your mix today so you should get it within 2 weeks. I hope you like it!

Selden

So, what are the haps? I'll tell you what the haps are: I am sending off your mix tomorrow! And it is great. Oh wait did I ever let you know I got yours? Because I most certainly did. And it, too, was great. Especially The New Pornographers, Ratatat, Snap Ant,etc etc etc! Plus I am already a huge decemberists fan honestly, it is a little weird how much I love them...especially darling Colin...sigh) so that was nice to see. Thanks and I hope you like yours once it arrives!

Sean

To finish what I started writing the other day. Your taste in music is excellent too(I do have 2 of your mixes; both have never left my mp3 player). I am not sure how others don't expand their interests. It is great to play music that brings back memories and at the same time to hear new stuff and think "Damn, I hafta play that again." By the way, my first album was Boston(1976) on 8-track. Still have the album but not the 8-track.

Arley

I just stumbled upon your comment-convo with Sean and you touched on something I've often wondered about when you said you've kept listening to new music into your 40's. I am always amazed when I meet someone who gets stuck in an era; ie the person you know who still feathers their bangs and spins Duran Duran daily... How do you stay sharp? I don't want to have the exact same tastes 20 years from now...

Sean

Thanks for the compliment! It is amazing as I get older, my taste in music expands. I was very fortunate when I was a kitten in the 70s. One babysitter would bring her Steve Miller and Zeppelin albums, another would have Chic, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder, and yet another would have the Ramones. I had all kinds of music attacking me. Plus, the top 40 AM radio stations from Detroit(hometown) and Windsor. I have some of my mom's records now; Isaac Hayes, Graduate soundstrack, Sgt. Pepper's, Barry White, and John Denver; I let her keep the Air Supply. Now I rely on the IMP for trying to discover current artists like Fiery Furnaces. As for "Crimson And Clover", the Tommy James original is excellent but something about Joan Jett singing it makes me purr loudly. Come to think of it, so does anything PJ Harvey sings.

Ian

Yes, just got it in the mail! Exciting. Your self-deprecation aside, there is plenty new to me there - while I've heard of most of those bands, I've only heard around 5 of the songs on the mix. I'll get to work on yours sharpish (unless something on my page tickles your fancy, I'm going to make a new one for you).

ANDY

Your profile photo makes me feel like I've never felt before.

Selden

coolcoolcool. i suppose your address etc will be at my disposal anyway once i receive your mix, but if you want me to send it along sooner then just give me your info and i will whip up a mix in a jiffy. just for you. huzzah.

Annie

david! thanks so much for the number one song in heaven mix - it's great, really enjoyed it. lots of new things on there for me, and ones i've been meaning to get into for a long time - brilliant stuff. & dick dastardly and muttley own all, classic. cheers!

Selden

oh whoas! (and yeah, thats a PLURAL "whoa") how very exciting. shall i send you one as well anyway?

Kevin

Got the Donkey Kong and The Number One Song In Heaven mixes, and have them on heavy rotation. The song from Cambodia Rocks is really awesome. FYI, World Destruction was in my wife's Top-5 playlist when she got to go on Portland radio. Sorry about the Loco Luau not coming through...it was more of an afterthought, a tiki mix that included several songs from other IMP members.

Aubrey

Sorry for the excessive delay! Mixes will arrive shortly.

Meatbreak

Hi David. Hope you liked the last NFR mix. Here's January's for you! www.sendspace.com/file/cge8z4. MxBx

Jeffrey

hey there... got the mix in the mail. It looks as if it was the one you first sent, so if you haven't sent off the replacement don't. Otherwise, I'd be more than happy to send it off to your next month's recipient. By the way, love the mix. J.

Victoria

OK think of an old childhood rhyme. Boys do one and girls do what you're asking about. Get it?!

Annie

hey sorry didn't check comments for ages - yeah sure, side trade sounds good, your mixes look great! give me a bell at sing.along.songs@gmail.com

Selden

whoawhoawhoa sorry i haven't checked my comments page in AGES but yeah woohoo a side trade would be awesome let's do it! when you get this, drop me a line at seldenspencer@hotmail.com we can rock it out (or "rocket" out, since you're a spaceman. ha.hahaha.)

Katherine

oh my gosh I solemnly swear that if you copy and paste http://www.myspace.com/thesharkthatatemyfriend it must work. If not I am at a loss.

Kristina Pia

my pleasure. and relief. i thought this was all girlie stuff.

Katherine

are you quite sure? it worked for me mere minutes ago. are you my mixtape maker, perchance?

Katherine

Their sound? Imagine a very, very tall and slender young man with an impressive handlebar mustache. He has delightful, dancing eyes and the happiest smile you've ever seen. He is the most optimistic and likable man you'll ever know. Now imagine getting a warm hug from him. If you put that feeling to music, you would not get the Shark That Ate My Friend's sound, but something that the keyboardist would play for you afterwards on his melodica. Listen to "Peaceful Kingdoms" or "Rush n Attack 2" http://www.myspace.com/thesharkthatatemyfriend

Arley

Re: your north pole blog. I think The Knife is really the best winter music. It's very bleak and cold just like winter should be. However, if I were a year long military person I would need something happy for balance. That would be Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Rollercoaster" on repeat.

Meatbreak

Hello! I just finished December's Not For Resale mix and thought you might like it. Here's the link to download it: http://www.sendspace.com/file/6h3r3v. Let the demo mayhem commence!!!!! happy holidays. MxBx

Anna

Hey- trade sounds excellent. Any in mind or something wild and new altogether? annakolson@gmail.com.

Kevin

RE: David - 2007-11-16 19:27:29 Would you be up for a side trade? ------------------- Been a while since I checked Comments...sure, a side trade would be great...perhaps one of your mixes mmight include Rammstein? Send an address to kevin@kbgraphicstudio.com

Sean

glad to hear you got the package. Enjoy my friend. Happy Holidays!

Sean

I was checking your favorite albums and saw Southern Death Cult. Great album. Still have the vinyl myself. I sent a holiday mix to you and other members that I have traded with and enjoyed their mixes like your Crazy Blue Eyes. Time for a nap.

Aubrey

Sweet sweet Canadian goodness...

Sarah

Sure, why not? Anything specific in mind?

Electramummy

hmmm. The mixes are at work. I do remember the piss christ cover. Some things included were Gnarles barkely "St. Elsewhere", Hot chip?, sham 69. sidewalk surfer girl, x-ray specs I think... i could be wrong... Maybe look at your library, for songs you sent which may have been added at a certain date,,, and send me music you have added to your library AFTER that date. yeah? no? I am also trying to figure out what I should send you. You have probably heard enough Wintersleep right? I will likely end up sending two mixed cd's all MP3. I will have it sent out by the end of the week. C

Ian

Quite possibly! What were you thinking?

Electramummy

I'm behind on the side trade... Sorry. Our postmaster should be returning to the village this week and I can mail your mp3s out. I look forward to yours. C

Craig

Sorry I didn't reply earlier - I wanted to listen to your mix at least twice first. I had probably had about half of the songs (which is a good thing in my book), and was intrigued by the rest. Thanks a bunch for the trade. Hope you got my mixes....

Laura

I don't check this site as often as I should! Glad you got your mix... You were an intimidating person to make a mix for. ;) I mean that as a compliment.

Amy

Shoot. I'm a jerk. Haven't been on the imp site lately and I forgot all about trading. My email is amy.frothingham@gmail.com. I hardly ever go on the site unless they contact me. I'm a lot better with me email.

Caitlin

your mix=phenomenal! hoestly. and the doll.... ...it surely did brighten my day. i haven't decided what to do with it yet. i'm sure something rediculous will come of it. thank you, so much!

Electramummy

Ready. Set. Go you bastard! GO! Wait. Didn't you move? Shoot the new one to me.

Electramummy

Why of course, I want to. MP3? I need to order some more CDRs, but I would be beside myself to have some more of what you're offering. And what WE do, is we go to the ice cold creek. We dip our heads, to get the devil out. Then we dress up in disguises and go "Masquerattin'". We go to people's houses and they have to play music. We have to dance to the music and then they guess who we are. One time I sweated my ass off for 20 minutes under two carhardtt freezer suits until someone had gone through all 40 people on the island but me. At least I got some cherry sours out of the deal. Let's do the side deal, my friend.

Electramummy

It's true. Isolation tanks manifest their damage in the victim by screwing with things like grammatical ability and trigger finger issues.

Electramummy

HI David. Happy Halloween ahead of time. Last Minute costume idea. Black pillowcase with eyes cut out. Everyone loves an good executioner. And you have been executing these mixes down. See How I tied that in there like a god damned pro. Seriously, Happy Halloween C

Electramummy

Jane Everyman

Holy crap, Spaceboy- you're a freaking megastar on here. How do I get to be as cool as you? I'm glad you liked my flight gear, how do you like my wig?

Sean

the track is called Green Haze. I first heard it back in '88 and it was originally funny to me but now after several years, it is one of my favorite songs.

Craig

Just a reply head up - your mix(es) are on the road via wild horse or giant bird or whatever methods of postal distribution they use up in the wilds of Canada.... hope you dig.

Arielle

hey I saw english beat in october of 2005, it truly isn't a reunion/ just Dave Wakeling busting out the oldies. Funny enough I will be seeing them on the 25th, a 3 day difference from 2 years ago. Spooky. I do not believe it was the honeycomb tour it was august of 2006, his solo acoustic set, he was doing some solo that tour and some shows with the foo fighters. I hope that answers your questions. Hope to hear more inquiries of my concert goings soon. Ciao

Jay

Brown liquor.

Sean

quick question. I just posted my "few favorites" mix and was wondering did you hear the hidden track at the end? I forgot about it until I played the mix today. Just curious, said the cat.

katie

sure! i sew lots of things. big bags, little bags, clothes, curtains, cushions, wallets.. la dee da dee dee....

Arielle

Concerts are a passion for sure! They are what I look forward to! London has a decent amount of bands roll through and rock through, but I find myself jetting over to Toronto and Montreal pretty frequently. There is nothing like boogie-ing to live music, and the good 'ol smell of beer/sweat/smoke/guitar strings being plucked and struck vigorously! Any shows specifically interest you? Tootles Ciao xoxo

Craig

Just hook me up with an address, and the mix shall be yours! Viola!

Amy

Sorry, I hadn't checked my comments for a while. But I'd be down to trade. How does that work?

Craig

Howdy! Trades for what I live for! Let me know what you would like/don't like and I'll see what I can do....

Anna

You're a nut! You're CRAZY in the coconut! Har. I like your mixes!

Kat

That sounds most appealing. What are you in the mood for? Kat

Caitlin

i would love too! what do you have in mind?

Aubrey

Hey David! I'm finally all set up here in Atlanta. How 'bout round # 2?

Abby

just saw your comment -- haven't checked this in a while. yes let's definitely trade. send me your address and i'll send you the oldies mix. btw, the heino photo is AWESOME. we just picked up a heino record at a garage sale this weekend. i must admit, i find him terrifying. but in a good way? i can't tell. the mix looks good, though.

Sean

Just got back from vacation and played your cds. Enjoyed them immensely. I love Longwave's "There's A Fire" and Razorlight's "In The Morning". Actually, all the songs are great. As for "Russian Roulette", everyone should be introduced to Lords Of The New Church in Music 101. Glad you like the cds. Let me know when you want to trade again.

Sean

got your mixes in the mail today; looking forward to the music as i leave town for the week. i'll let you know how they are when i return. i am sure they will be golden!

Jennifer

I'm loving my mix! Sorry so long to respond, I was out in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming for a couple of weeks. I esp like the Greasy Heart craziness. And Plastic Jesus is the only song I've ever agreed to sing with my husband while he plays guitar (I have no singing talent) so that brought back some good memories. Also like the Shocking Blue - gotta look for more of that and Yuya Uchida...Thanks so much!

Cornelius

Dood thank you so very much! I just got your package yesterday. Your mix with the hillbilly on it is killer! and some Ren and Stimpy stickers to boot! How's that for nice? I haven't had time yet to listen to the Long Shins disc, but I really like the cardboard cover art / sleeve that disc came in. Very good worksmanship! Flame On Jonny!

Kristina Pia

nah, just back for a visit and everybody's dragging me about all the time - not the greates circumstances to get mixtapes done in. i'll try though. i'm still hoping for people to get tired of me, eventually.

Kristina Pia

still owe you. didn't forget.

Sean

I sent out a care package of some mixes on Friday. Hope you enjoy them.

Angela

I have heard of back bacon, but not peameal bacon. It sounds kinda suspect if you ask me.

Sean

i was appreciating your mixes and would like to trade; the crazy blue eyes and young turks look great.

Angela

Meh, no need for apologies, doll. It's all gooooooooood. Actually I would like to visit Canada one day. A word though, we're onto this "Canadian bacon" thing. Americans may not be the sharpest crayons in the box, but we know HAM when we see it.

Angela

Actually, darling, I think it was a Georgia crematorium; but I guess when you're not from the south, the south can seem like an amalgum of elongated phoenetics and bad teeth. Same goes with England. Tut tut and cheerio!!

Joe

Hey man! Accidently deleated your comment, but thanks to the Browse Profiles option and a somewhat photographic memory, here I am! Yes, I would indeed love to do a side trade! Would you also like a copy of the Os Mutantes mix that Cornelius liked so much? Maybe I could make something else...hell, I could do both! Here´s my e-mail = tamaleloco(at)gmail.com Sorry for the (at), I´m in Spain and I can´t figure out how to work this keyboard. I´ll be back in about 4 days, so if I have your address I can ship it out in the next couple days after that. Awwright! Thanks man, later! P.S. - Glad to hear my Scratch tastes give me a good reputation in this world! He was one hilarious dude on stage...he´d pour water on everything, and he was trying to light a rock on fire...crazy! (but awsome, of course)

Angela

I got your mix!! YAYZ! Haven't listened to it yet, but it looks like just the right mix of sappy pop nostalgia, hipster doofis fodder and earwax...you know, as an adhesive. Thanks for the stickers too! You rock, my friend. Oh yeah, I was going to try to find a clever way to incorporate an "eh" into this comment, but alas here I am at the end and not an eh in sight. I guess I'll leave it to you. You probably have an inborn talent for sliding eh ever so stealthily into your daily vernacular, or DO YOU?????

Jennifer

I'd love a side trade! Have you been in the mood for silly pop, dark postpunk weirdness, twangy grandma and grandpa nostalgia, funny songs from the 70s, songs with lyrics in tongues you can't understand -all of it mixed together? Let me know...

Rachel

Glad you like it! The whole "reply" theme is something I've never done before, but I thought it was fun, because I like making random connections between songs and other songs. Not sure if all of my matches made perfect sense, but there was some something in common for all of them. I was particularly excited to find another song with the word "Vulture" in it. Still enjoying your CD a ton.

Angela

Awesome!! I'm so glad you finally received it. It's good to know when my little mixtape babies have made it safe and sound. I worry about them when they sojourn to places unknown. Enjoy!!

Angela

What's the score on the mix, Chesty? Have you gotten mine? I still have not received yours as of yet. Perhaps our mixes met up in some parallel mixtape universe, fell in love, and made little mixtape babies...

Natalie

hey! i got your mix in the mail last week, it was a very pleasant suprise! i'll try and make you another one soon, dont want this to be a one-way mix-tape friendship!!

Aubrey

I'm glad you got the tape! I've been cruising south on 95 listening to country and western. Once I get to ATL, we should set up another swap!

Angela

Thanks dollface!! Your mix is in the mail. Let me know when you receive it!!

Cornelius

Bring it on Buzz Lightyear! Boy oh boy, have I gotta mix for you!

Cornelius

I've gotta tell ya Space Man, that Big Hair and Big Boots has been a mainstay for my devil wife and me. Whew. What a fantastic collection. I wake in the morning with "It's Such a... Purty World Today..." playing in my head over and over. The only way to cure such a thing is to sing Freddy Fender's Wasted Days and Wasted Nights at the top of my devil lungs while driving through my neighborhood. Gawd Dammit Son, there's a tear in my beer.

Ian

re: tracklisting, yeah like everything else I do, it always seems to be a work in progress. My June recipient is getting the same disc content, but with tweaked covers and larger tracklist font. Glad you liked the choons.

Angela

I haven't, but I recently moved so it may be caught up in the Communist melee that is the USPS forwarding service. Yes, the USPS is run by filthy Commies. Don't ask me how I know. It's classified information.

Electramummy

Got your third mix. It's great. I had Kiss "I was made for loving you" stuck in my head while treating a seizure patient today.

Ian

Finally, yours is in the mail too. A mere two weekends after it was promised! Lame excuse being boring stuff about mixing app deciding it no longer wished to burn discs for absolutely no apparent reason, whilst continuing to function normally in every other way. The solution was as tedious as it was simple, but working with computers all day makes it especially torturous to kneel in front of the desktop at home, fumbling to plug in USB cables, rearranging connections on the power-bar to find space for that particularly unnecessarily over-sized plug for the external hard drive. Blah,blah,blah,etc.............................................................................. Anyway, got your mix early last week and it is damn fine. Juicy and Fruity. Pithy and Witty. That extra-curricula exchange was a top-notch idea. Cheers big-ears!

Electramummy

Hey Got both your packages. Truly cool. Like a window was opened. I am busy with supersad Bering Sea death crisis right now, but just seeing the playlists has lifted me up. I mean c'mon! Who are you! Did you and your friends get beat up at the skate ditch or what? Look forward to future trades once things slow down here. Thanks again. Yours truly in the busy as fuck department. Can I say that here? I should be able to, all things in life considered.

Electramummy

hidey hidey ho. You shouldn't have to suffer these bizarre issues with getting and playing music. That's bullshit. Let's figure it out. Okay? Yes. Okay. And by the way, in case you hadn't heard.. quantity has nothing on quality. You are up there. EM.

Aubrey

Yeeeeeeeeeeeee-HAW! Mine is going out today! I hope you love it like I'm lovin mine.

Rachel

So, I got the CD (yours will be on its way soon) and it's awesome. More comments soon, but WOAH I love that version of "This Boy is Exhausted." I know the song really well in its Meadowlands form, but where did that one come from?? I have to know.

Tanya

Ack! Advertisments! Very distracting. *grumble* I think this needs a chat option .. this site kinda sucks.

Rachel

No problem about that---I just graduated and have been on vacation, so I don't get home till tomorrow anyway. Once I get there I'll send yours out right away-- I've been working on it tirelessly, just only in my head.

Electramummy

hey. cool covers. titles... I need a concept for this June Mix. Did you get your discs? EM

kiana

i actually did try to walk through that door but it was locked.

Emma

David I got your mix(es)-What largesse! You spoil me! Really happy with them-I must say, they both have AMAZING flow (something this little bird needs to work on....). So glad you thought of me for your trademix!-Emma

Ian

yeah, I'd be up for a side trade. Did you have your eye on a mix that I've already done, or do you have any input you'd like to give me for a brand new mix, or should I just go nuts and pick whatever tracks take my fancy? (I guess that should be "bonkers" rather than "nuts" if my Englishness plays a part in the desire to trade). If you're interested in an existing mix, then I gotta tell you I'm happier with the mix I sent out for May than I have been with possibly any other mix I've ever done.

Donna

David: It's all in the lighting. I'm actually smiling in that photo. Unless you think I'm the one in the middle, in which case you would be right.

Aubrey

Let's do it! I am digging your Big Hair, Big Boots mix. I'm about to move to the South and I'm a hankering for that country kind of twang.

Alex

So yeah, I got you as my assignment last month, then had a big problem with my PC, so couldn't copy you a chuffing CD. Anyway, it's on it's sweet little way to you right now (if you havn't got it already). Hopefully it'll be worth the wait. It's basically a compilation of all my favourite bits from the past 12 months of IMP mixtapes. Hope you enjoy. Oh yeah, in response to the message you sent me, like, 7 years ago, my favourite Cramps song changes from day to day. Today it's probably their quite distinct version of 'Fever', as it came on my MP3 player just now. Also, my profile picture is from the cow parade in Manchester 2004. Heady days.

Valentina

David, e-mail me and we can talk trades. reception@americanpropertycc.com

Angela

Ooooooooooooooooh, sounds kinky...I'm in!

Natalie

I got your mixes in the mail last night, it pretty much made my day! I've only had the chance to listen to one so far and I really really liked that so I have high hopes for the other one :) FYI, I just remembered that I saw Luke Steele from The Sleepy Jackson at a bar on the weekend! He's from the same city as I am, which isnt very big so your bound to bump into rock stars every once in a while! Yeah he is one crazy man...

Emma

Posting your mix tomorrow-May 20th-should find it's way to you in a week or so...

Natalie

I'm so glad you like it!!! i enjoyed making it, id forgotten that i liked so many bands from australia. i hope to get yours in the mail soon so i can study up on more canadian bands before i make my way over there!

Rachel

Oh yeah, and my email is rkiel@wesleyan.edu

Rachel

Count me in. Should we have a theme?

Emma

Absolutely! You can reach me at emmab4@shaw.ca

Natalie

Tanya

Hey there, I got your mixes yesterday.. thanks! It was nice to get something useful in the mail. :) We shall have to do that again.

mel

sure, anything in particular?

Cornelius

You're welcome Mission To Mars! I can't wait for your mix! The fact of the matter is the last 2, TWO mind you, mixers with my name flaked out. (March and April) WHATEVER! I'm happy for all of this side trading and what not!

Rachel

how did you get the lime in there?

Yay! E-mail me at the gmail account chlorophyll. Pick a theme for me.

Kristina Pia

yuh. i guess now i know why i always was kind of afraid of phone books. what a nice idea though. i hope to be yr assigment soon please please.

Electramummy

SIDE TRADE GO!

Kristina Pia

i do: get incredibly drunk all by myself, crash into this place before hitting bed, click random profiles, and answer questions which were not meant for me. yay. i do, do; and am, ahem, a little embarrassed.

Cornelius

Space Man Spiff - Your address on Terra Firma must've been classified and scrambled by my SPAAAAAACE E-mail system. Sorry. Please to send transmission again. (intruderalert@hotmail.com)

Electramummy

I agree with you. No matter how many times the facts drive home for people, the reality that insanity and criminal behavior know no boundaries is not widely accepted. My angle here kind of falls into the Joe Blow in a suit is more likely to waste other people's lives, but struggling artists are introverted enough to just waste their own life. FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING of course. The topic of mental health in the arts... We could go on forever. But we don't have forever, Spanky. It'll be Waterworld before we know it, and debates about morals and sanity won't mean a la crap! You've got some nice mixes.

Cornelius

Here it is Man or Astroman: intruderalert@hotmail.com Love, Mangus Robotfighter

Electramummy

Spectre/Spector is kind of known for waving guns around at his house guests... the list I compiled is out of context to the article it accompanied. I admitted there were some questions about some of the musicians listed in both "murdered" and "criminal". Alot is relative to the accounts of individuals involved. The list originally posted with my guest blog "Nurturing Phrenology or Poor Charlie Manson", which kind of delved into the reltaionship of mental health and the arts.

Nope. Do I know you?

Tanya

K .. I'll be there.. I'm there now.. I'm going to make a separate room called "IMP" ... I'll be in that room .. join it and we can chat. :)

Tanya

Dave - We're going to go out to get something to eat .. it's 7:22 - I just didn't want you to think I forgot.. I'll be home before 9 - let's say 9pm instead of 8 - you can open up a chat room and send me a message.. wait.. maybe you don't know how to do that! Umm.. be online at 9 - Chesty6 right? :)

Tanya

Ok .. LOL .. hopefully I'll remember.. I get distracted easily on weekends!!!

Kristina Pia

i do i do.

Valentina

Oh! A Kindred spirit in a sea of youth!

Tanya

I found you .. there's no escape now! :) Why do you only have single files?? What happened to the rest of the albums?! :P

Valentina

David - I DO love the Mexican (mix). It's got The Streets and The Tornados. You have excellant taste.

Cornelius

Spaceman, do you want a copy of the auto-bio double disc set? email me if yes-intruderalert@hotmail.com

Blaighnid

i didn't know either, it was like a magical accident

Natalie

ok ok i'll see what i come up with and let you know!

Natalie

hrmmm australian bands australian bands... i would recommend architecture in helsinki, the grates, snowman and the presets for danceability, darren hanlon and holly throsby for a ballad or two and 11th he reaches london because theyre my friends and they rule. that said, im not sure how easy it will be to get a hold of this stuff... but still!! someone should make you an australian mixtape!

Tanya

OMG! I forgot. You can shoot me now. I feel terrible! Baah! On the bright side you seem to say that you know how to browse files now! So that's good! Umm.. maybe we can meet this week sometime.. LOL .. we'll try it again.

Lottie

Hey David Thanks for the comment - maybe I'll see u at an imaginary gig sometime if you like going to them too! I'll keep an eye out for u!

Tanya

Probably just the Mac Users room.. if something comes up and I'm not gonna be online then (it's my husband's birthday that day), I'll leave a message here.. :)

Angela

Chesty, chesty bo besty! Banana fana fo Festy! Mee mi mo Mesty! CHESTY!! Nothin' like a little Name Game for your Friday...AWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEAAAHHH...

Tanya

Ok Chesty6 .. how about Sunday night at .. 8pm?

Blaighnid

hello click on the image and see what happens...i don't know why it won't upload maybe it's too big but i kind of like it how it is. i'll put up the songs. and yes, i am a ninja. i like your photo too, great hat.

John

You can't juggle your mom, no way dude. I don't believe it.

Tanya

LOL.. hahahaha.. that's hilarious. I guess you don't have facebook either. :P That's too bad - it'd be easy to set up some file exchanges! Some of the stuff I have is hard to find.. hence why I was going to say you could just download it from me! Let me know!

Veronica

I found that Morrissey/Siouxsie song a long time ago when I obsessed about the Banshees and the Smiths all the time in high school. You can find it on iTunes. And no, I didn't draw that picture of Veronica--I wish I were that talented!

Tanya

Dude, what happened to the MSN? I haven't seen nor "heard" from ya about that! What's your MSN name/email? If you have one, let me know and I'll add you. The thing is that we BOTH have to be on Soulseek at the SAME TIME for it to work. Anyway.. lol .. see what you can do with that. :)

Angela

Ouch...I have the same feeling when I hear that poppy-pseudo-techno drivel of the early 90s. It haunts my dreams.

Angela

I noticed you used Elvira in a mix. That song is dear to my heart. My dad and I used to sing it together when I was but a wee lass. He always took the bass "giddy up..." Good times.

Angela

Yes, my capacity to remember sappy pop songs amazes even me. Speaking of, have you any insight as to how, when you hear "Africa" by Toto, it seems to stick into the sulcii of your brain for an agonizingly long time? I dare you to test my theory.

Angela

Oh, ps...nice quote, Charlene.

Angela

You know it's quite an interesting story. So we're riding along, minding our own business, when all of the sudden we're being chased by a pack of crazed teenagers! I think one of them shot a gun into the air at one point! They chased us for what seemed like miles, and then when we got to the New Jersey turnpike, they just turned around and left. But the good thing is, we're safe. I think we might have hit a pot hole though. Corrina's car now makes a funny sound. Sorry Corrina.

Emma

Just the name "Softcore Jukebox" makes it sound as if it would be a fun album to listen to. Me, I'm just checking out a wee bit of Sublime-a best of mixtape from my buddy at work. I'll have to try and sniff out the above mentioned Ladytron. Cockles still warm... E

Natalie

oh gang of four, they make me want to spend my life dancing and looking angry! australia is pretty sweet, people should come here more often! oh i sound like i work for the tourism board...

Emma

The Witching Hour came out in '05-I hadn't heard of Ladytron before-was introduced by a friend of a friend. Glad to hear the song piqued your interest...

Brian

something close to mardi gras beads... essential to any underwear party. don't mind them, they have a tendancy to get a little out of control. and what exactly is on your head here, hmm? how is the music on the moon?

Emma

Tardy-that would be me...And me, I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Theda...Thanks for the comment, it definitely warmed the cockles of my heart!

Tanya

Hey David, I'm not always online - it will only show people who are usually there. I live in London, so I'm sure we're on the same time zone. Hook up with me on MSN and we'll work it out. (swatchy at hotmail dot com)

Tanya

You have to go into the "chat" section - look up "Mac Users" maybe - I know I'm in that room all the time - you have to tell me what room you're in - that way I could find you. :) If you have MSN, add me and we can chat real time - swatchy at hotmail dot com.

Valentina

Amen, brother. i never met a Cake song I didn't like. Their peppy brass lines are reminiscent of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Esme

How does an Armenian listen?

Tanya

Sorry dude, my username is actually NewTeach .. LOL .. have a look for me - I just checked for you but didn't see you anywhere.. :)

Rachel

That's my other mantra: "No matter how bad it gets, at least I don't listen to Kenny G." I would add Norah Jones to that, but some people really like her, so I don't want to be snobby or anything, especially since my taste is nowhere near impeccable.

Ryan Mixtape

Hey David. I think I'm a little confused now. If you received an e-mail that says your mix is missing, it's definitely for the February mix, not the March mix, since as you said, it's not due sent until the end of the month. How do you know your February mix was received? Did you get an e-mail from the recipient? If not, the e-mail you received is on behalf of your February recipient, who has not received your mix yet, meaning the correct response is to "Have you sent last month's mix?" is "Yes, but I'll send another copy." Either way, it's a lot easier to deal with this kind of thing if you just forward me the e-mail you received or just respond -- Comments are really meant for management issues!!! Thanks.

Tanya

Hey - let me know your username on there - what time zone are you in? If you have MSN look me up (swatchy at hotmail dot com) and we'll go thru it together. :)

Rachel

I really appreciate the vote of confidence regarding Fleetwood Mac. Sometimes my "There is nothing wrong with pop" mantra does the trick, but it also helps to get some outside reassurance. I still try to keep fairly quiet about my warm feelings toward Collective Soul, though.

Sarah

ha ha, it's a Judy Garland thing, and the film is so so great. saw Gary Glitter 'Do you want to touch me' on one of your mixtapes, eeeeekkkk!!!! was that thrown in for comic effect?!

Tanya

You don't know what soulseek is? you need to look it up, my friend! Use Google.. it's a file sharing program that people worldwide use.. I love it. I can usually get anything I want! :)

Tanya

LOL - if you have Soulseek, I have music files on there.. uhh.. my username is .. my name I think! Let me know if you're interested - we can browse and pillage each other. Oooh. Sexay.

Aubrey

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who imposes their musical taste on everyone within earshot. Oooooooooo, and you know i love aladdin sane.

Robert

Yep. The Chordettes. And I have no idea why, but it beats that one about Taking an Ugly Girl for Your Wife, which is not acceptable to me.

mel

hey there, thanks for the comment. yes, maria breaks my heart and i love her for that. i see you've just been to metric, and now i feel guilty for not going (kinda didn't feel like going out that night) the joy of lazyness. bye m.

Ian

And I'm glad someone else agrees that QotSA never got better than Rated R, although the Life Pursuit is easily my least favourite Belle & Sebastian record.

Ian

Hey, to be fair, I have that response to some people on here too. I think it speaks more to the incredible breadth of music out there than any work on my part (...I hope). And I wasn't born until 81, so no fair quizzing me on 70s pop. But I hope you find some good stuff (oh, the mix I will make you when your name pops up...). But that's one of the joys of the site - you get to see all this stuff you've never heard of.

Emily

Yup, I hear that about one mix a month being a bit tough at times. I like to foist mixes onto my unsuspecting friends, who are pretty receptive, especially if I draw pictures on the packaging and whatnot. I do have a few friends here that I exchange music with, which is excellent. Let me know what you think of the most recent chili peppers album. I'm curious to know what you think. I do not own it myself.

The Jeremiest

Actually, my previous rating was decidedly "Un-Jeremy," and a last minute effort by a recently enfranchised voting bloc skyrocketed my status beyond the various Jeremiers into the highest rank known as "The Jeremiest." Thank you for taking interest in the politics of my name.

Carly

Don't hold it too long. My "Indian" nickname as a kid was "Slow Child." That entire second sentence is so politically incorrect.

Carly A

Great to know someone is reading other profiles. I'm sure you'd never see Hatebreed and Death Cab play a double-bill on stage, but why not on a mixtape? Anything is possible on that bill.

Emily

good on you for visiting other folks' profiles. i was inspired to revise mine, thanks to you! yeah, i've heard from quite a few folks that the chili peppers have really fallen off. i have a couple of friends here who've been supporting them since they come up, natives to los angeles--a rare breed, and one of them will not see them in concert anymore because she was so disappointed. but hey, how about their last album? it was really something hearing it being blasted in germany at one of the fan stadium things for the world cup. good, good stuff.

Aubrey

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the splendor of the Polyphonic Spree.

Ian

David, my fellow Ontarion, that song choice only makes me admire you more. If I ever get sent up there, I'll try to get them to shanghai you too so that I can watch you go slowly bonkers.

Ian

I fully admit I'm not being 100% serious about Sparks... I love them from afar so far, mostly, although I definitely would like to hear more (if you ever get my name, don't be afraid to whip me up a primer, eh?). I will take those recommendations under advisement, although no matter how much I wind up liking other stuff, I still don't think you can fuck with "Tryouts for the Human Race" - that song is awesome. And as far as the frozen north thing (we're both Canadians, aren't we?), I think I just remembered what song I'd listen to on endless repeat while I'm up there: "Light House" by Kepler.

Ian

So wait, you like Sparks but don't like their work with Morodor? But "Tryouts for the Human Race" is pretty much the best thing they ever did!

Carly

Da-Da-Da-Daviiiid. I promise I'll comment to let you know when they are fleshed out.

Emma

well, you pulled it off well.

Karol

the starlight mints were amazing. the lead seemed a bit pretentious, but i could overlook that. then there was a girl who danced like she was made of rubber. really distracting.

Emma

i got your mix yesterday and you had me from the first song; it is an excellent mix.

Douglas

When I was a kid people put the boots to you if you were different from them, or if you didn't like the music they liked. It was so strange to me. I liked Judas Priest, a lot of people did back then, and they still do today \m/ but if you put on Motorhead or The Pistols people would freak out. Today is so different. People don't get their ass kicked anymore for dying their hair blue or green.

Tanya

Ahh.. I see. :) I'm very proud of our Canadian music - except for the fact that people seem to think all we have is Celine Dion (who I can't stand!) .. at any rate.. maybe it's a good thing - we can have them all to ourselves! :) I try and spread the Canuck-ness whenever I can.. even to my fellow Canucks. It's awesome when people say "hey, you're right, this band rocks!" ..

Tanya

Sorry - were you saying that my only musical preferences were limited to four bands? I hope not! Sloan was my first love .. in high school. I won't say that I know a lot of "old" Canadian stuff (unless you're talking Glass Tiger and Kim Mitchell type of stuff - recently saw Gowan on cribs.. that was odd.. ), but I'm pretty up and up on the current scene. I just think it's better quality than what comes out of the USA.

Jack

i know i bought that sparks lp when in school in the late 70s/early 80s, so perhaps i exaggerated...maybe 25 years ago! my best friend in school was a sparks fanatic, he turned me on to them (as well as the tubes, roy wood and klaus nomi). after a decade or so of largely being ignored, they seem to have had a small-scale comeback as critic's darlings, judging by the generally positive reviews of "beethoven" and "young lovers." keep the faith.

Emma

Mmmhm, i am.

Christine

"The Rugrats"- full of useful information and warnings against terrorism. As to "Mexican Radio," I shall have to give it a try, because Lord knows I am constantly in search of the right mix of moody and Mexican (mental image of a burrito listening to The Cure.)

Cornelius

I'm sorry to say most of the ShortFuse came apart on orbital re-entry. Thankfully the surviving piece of the starship was the bridge and part of the crew quarters. That hunk of the hull slammed into the planet Alkaloid on the outskirts of Black Rock City. You must've been thrown clear of the wreckage after impact. We managed to build a survival compound out of the debris. We fraternized with the local beings and other intergalactic visitors. The mutant Undermen took me to a "day spa" where I was burned red with laser heat lamps and had these fool horns attatched. (horns were "in style" with the undermen that year)

Jack

re: sparks...good to know there's another one of us out here in the indierock-centric world of IMP. it's not like i'm a charter member of their fan club or anything but i've owned both "sparks" and "a woofer in tweeter's clothing" on vinyl for almost 30 years, so i think i have some semblence on mael appreciation. and while i don't listen to "disco sparks" much, i do have to say that consdiering the concepts of sparks in general, it makes perfect sense that they should pass through a high-NRG dance phase. i'm glad they moved on, but there's no arguing that "no. 1 song in heaven" is a classic, for lyrics alone if the music ain't your bag.

Christine

I agree; I don't know what's worse, a "giver-backer*" or someone who doesn't like The Smiths. Giving back CD's and/or not liking The Smiths emboldens the terrorists. *term picked up from years of watching "The Rugrats"

Cornelius

Jonny Rocket is that you? I haven't seen you since the wreck of the Starship Shortfuse back in ought two. After the mutants attacked us near Black Rock City and our crew was speperated, I thought we'd never see you again. I of course was captured by the Undermen and taken to Hellios where I underwent this complete make over. Safe space travels!
