The Space Between My Ears

About Me

My musical taste is wide and varying, and the older I get the wider my net is cast.

However, currently I am in the throes of an obsessional Duran Duran flashback that has lasted well over two years, and I don't see it ending anytime soon. Here I am at the age of 40, wigging over a band I had a thing for when I was 16. I think maybe this is my mid-life crisis manifesting itself. But it's okay because it's fun. It's also very expensive!

Yes, I'm Forty!

I gave this mix to all the guests at my recent 40th birthday party. Just a random sampling of pop tunes I'm enjoying right now.

Love your taste in music! If you are ever up for a side trade let me know :)

Catherine

June mixtape is in the mail as of today; apologies profusely for its delay!

Steven

PS I also did a 40th birthday party-favor mix, but it was regressive instead of the currently-listening approach you took. The track list is on my profile page.

Steven

Hi, love the May mix. Thanks!

Martin

Hi Kathy, You are my May assignment. Having checked out your mixes I can see you have a fine taste in music, and I like the way you have themed your mixes. We share an interest in somem of the same artists and I will try to avoid including tracks you probably already know. You will be a challenge.

ANDY

I think it's great you've included Cat Power's 'Wild As The Wind' on a mix. Have you heard Nina Simone's version? Certainly more tortured. Also, I'm going through a major New Order phase. It all started with the song "Ceremony." Don't laugh, I was introduced to it by the likes of Sophia Coppola in her movie "Marie Antoinette". Best, Andy

Sean

i understand your thing about duran duran. i saw them back in '05 on their last tour and have played "wedding album" constantly. but the biggest thing is last week, i found andy taylor's "thunder" album at a "buy/sell/trade" cd store. i haven't heard it in years. just awesome!

parker

july mix should arrive any day now... very sorry for the delay

Meribah

Mixtape received, thank you very much. I've only listened to half the tracks so far, but I love the concept!! I'm looking forward to discovering some new non- anglo originated artists as I go through. Cheers.

Laura

Great taste! :)

I love that you chose John Taylor as your underappreciated artist deserving of a greatest hits compilation. Unfortunately, now my girlfriend wants to date you.

Angela

i sent out your mix a few days ago, i hope you got it! sorry for the super simple packaging, i am a poor poor college student :\ hope you enjoy!

David

I hear you about Duran Duran. I took enough ribbing in high school for liking them then, so you can imagine what it's like for a 40-ish male in small town Ontario to sneak them into a mix tape now. But damn their hides they do have some catchy tunes.
