Mixtapes

Sometimes Silent Drivebys

So if I was a music supervisor working on a road trip movie (probably indie) then these are some of the songs i'd use for driving scenes. Mostly instrumental. Or at least that was the idea but a few vocals slipped in there ... often. I just pretend your a passenger looking out the window in the middle of death valley

secret santa

tis the season

the how to break up with your boyfriend or not mix

You know when something's on your mind and it seems like every song you listen to takes on a whole new meaning. Well this is the result of my current quandry

Sweet Sweet Jesus

What would jesus listen to ... if he was a narcassistic, tongue in cheek kinda guy

Undercover

I'm a little obssessed with cover songs, but a random mix seemed too easy. So i set myself the task of a six degrees of seperation style mix, ie every band or song has to link to the next in one way or another. This was my first IMP mix.

Songs of The Dragons Flying to Heaven

This mix was inspired by a flyer I found on the street. It's for a performance called Songs of Dragons Flying To Heaven - a play about White People in Love

Giant Fork

Random theme that I decided to interpret as a pairing menu. I took characters who are giants in literature or folklore and matched them with songs.

Calender

siete nella meta come mercoledi - you are in the middle like wednesday

You didn't forget about me? Did you lovey?

Cornelius

Did you receive my super bonus package? I remixed the Jesus VS. Satan disc, and made it all that more Evilly Holy! 666 777

Great Santa mix! Just to let you know, I am going to steal and modify your idea. Have a happy Happy!

Cornelius

Sweet Sweet Jesus looks Awesome! Wanna swap with my Jesus Vs. Satan mix?

Dan

Heya, Loving the mix. Oddly, my last mix had a related theme to the one I received from you, being the songs I listened to one month in 2005 whilst living in Scotland and working for the BBC. Man, I wish I lived in Brooklyn. It is a good place.

John

Mix received! Mix received! Shweet. Oh, and cheers on the Flight of the Conchords connection. We're big fans in this house. My 4-year-old has been watching "Boom King" on youtube every single day for like a month. He can't get enough. The wife and I are big fans of the Bowie bit, and "Business Time" of course. Thanks for the mix.

Hi there. In addition to being IMP member, I am a freelance music writer. I have been working on a feature article on the IMP for my local alt-weekly, The Houston Press. I was wondering if you might allow me to ask you a few questions: How long have you been an IMP participant? Do you know Ryan outside of the IMP? Were you a mixtaper prior to participation in the project? Why do you make mixtapes? Do you get more out of making mixtapes or out of receiving them? Have you found IMP to be a good source for discovering new music (even if that would be old music thatâ??s new to you)? What is your occupation? How much time do you spend, on average, per Mixtape? Do you feel that artwork is an important part of a Mixtape? Would you recommend IMP to others? In addition to these few questions, anything youâ??d like to add would be more than welcome. Feel free to be as loquacious or succinct as you like. nicholas.l.hall@constellation.com

Oi katipai! I am an iTunes fella.' Whatever you want to send will be most appreciated. Multimedia, eh? I'm intrigued.

Lauren

your mixtape is the best i've received yet! it's so strange how music can confuse you yet also clarify most situations, all at the same time. good luck :)

Steven

Ah! My little (inadvertent) whipped-cream guy could hug your little pancake dude.

Cathy

i'm so happy you like it! i was in a rush to mail it so i didn't get a chance to write you any sort of intro, but i suppose the music is the most impt thing to begin with. and if you like bonde do role, their whole album is fantastic. great bonfire, sand-in-your-hair kind of stuff. happy summering!

Paul

I just wanted to say thanks for the magnificent mixtape. Having spent some time in New Zealand it brings back cool memories in drizzle drenched England. Do you know how I can lay my hands on some more Beetroot and Fat Freddy's drop? Thanks again.

Laura

I think I just lied to IMP and said I got your mix. I have not, but I am sure it'll be worth the wait for serious!!

Christine

love the 6 degrees of separation theme to your undercover mix :)

Sara

i got it! i like the covers, thanks!!!

Laura

I hope IMP makes you send me something sometime. :)

Son of Ravyn

Glad you enjoyed. The Goslings can be a bit much. I posted about them when asked to guest on Nonalignment Pact in February. Mixed reviews. Check out my post there, though, to see what I found in that music.

P A N T S!

Hey, I am a bit late finishing your mix. I hope to have it in the mail in the next few days.
